Penn College's baseball team faced Penn State Altoona in a nonconference doubleheader on Monday, seeing mixed results. The Wildcats now hold a 14-3 record after losing the first game 12-7 and claiming an 11-2 victory in the second.

During the first game, the Nittany Lions initially secured an 8-0 lead with runs scored in the first, second, and fourth innings. The Wildcats responded in the fifth inning with five runs, driven by Shawn Townsend's bases-loaded walk, a single by Matt Munoz, a fielder's choice from John Croasdale, a wild pitch, and an error. Following Altoona's addition of three runs in the fifth, Munoz hit a double to bring in two more runs during the sixth inning. Altoona then capped off their score with two additional runs in the sixth.

Munoz was instrumental for Penn College's offense with three hits, while Jaydon Goebel also contributed with two hits.

In the second game, Penn College showcased strong performance by scoring in six innings through 11 hits. It started with Anthony Turek's two-run single in the first inning. Ethan Stahl's sacrifice fly and an error helped secure a 4-2 lead in the second inning. Further errors and Brandon Shane's RBI double increased the lead to 6-1 in the third inning. Kevin Cute extended the gap with a two-run double in the fourth inning, pushing the score to 7-1. An error in the fifth inning added another run before Turek's two-run homer in the sixth sealed the game.

Turek ended with a solid performance of 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs. Both Parker White and Brandon Shane collected two hits each. Pitcher Weston McClain, contributed by allowing just one earned run on three hits over one inning, improving his individual record to 2-1.

Penn College's next game is scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m., where they will host Saint Elizabeth.
