The University of Pennsylvania has announced that Ben Luber will be joining the men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach, working under the new head coach, Fran McCaffery. Luber arrives at Penn following five years as head coach at the George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania, and a decade of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level.

Fran McCaffery praised Luber's capabilities, stating, "I've known Ben since he was in high school, when I tried to recruit him. He was a tremendous player at Penn State and has already had an incredible coaching career at the college level as an assistant and associate head coach. Ben is an excellent recruiter, phenomenal in skill development, and really relates well to everyone. Most recently, he did a fantastic job as head coach at the George School. I look forward to Ben having a tremendous impact on our program."

Luber expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, saying, "I am enthusiastic about helping Fran McCaffery return Penn to prominence in the Ivy League. I also cannot wait to work with him and bring an exciting brand of basketball to The Palestra. I am grateful for this incredible opportunity at the University of Pennsylvania."

During his time at George School, Luber led the boys' varsity basketball team to significant achievements, including the 2023 Friends League championship and a runner-up finish in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) State Championship. He was recognized as Non-PIAA State Coach of the Year twice and developed 11 first-team all-league players in his tenure.

Luber's coaching career began at Rider University, where he started as Director of Basketball Operations in 2009-10. He later became an assistant coach, contributing to the team’s record achievements and league success. Additionally, he served as Associate Head Coach with the Binghamton Bearcats.

Before entering college coaching, Luber operated the Ben Luber Basketball Academy, where he trained elite Pennsylvania talent, notably Ryan Arcidiacono. As a player, Luber was a four-year starter at Penn State University, finishing with a significant record of assists and achievements in steals.

Luber's background includes a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Penn State and a master's in athletic leadership from Rider. He grew up in Richboro, Pennsylvania, excelling in high school basketball and earning multiple accolades. Luber currently resides in Newtown with his wife, Nicki, and their two children.
