The University of Pennsylvania announced that Ronald Moore has joined the men's basketball staff as an assistant coach under John R. Rockwell Head Coach, Fran McCaffery. Moore, known for his successful collegiate career as McCaffery's starting point guard at Siena College, is making his coaching debut after an extensive professional playing career in Europe.
"Ronald was my starting point guard at Siena, and we won 97 games with him leading us," McCaffery stated. He emphasized Moore's professional experiences in Europe and his deep connections within Philadelphia's basketball community as valuable assets to the team. "I believe he will be excellent in every capacity of coaching, from recruiting and scouting to player development."
Moore expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with McCaffery, stating, "I am excited for this opportunity, especially to do it alongside Coach McCaffery who has been such an integral figure in my own basketball career." He aims to contribute to the Penn Basketball program's success in the Ivy League.
During his time at Siena, Moore was part of a team that won three consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championships and made three NCAA Tournament appearances from 2008 to 2010, achieving victories in the first rounds over Vanderbilt and Ohio State. He left as the program's all-time leader in assists and was recognized with numerous accolades, including a 2010 First Team selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and as a Bob Cousy Award finalist.
Moore, who retired from professional basketball in 2021, co-owns Moore Brothers Basketball and resides in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, with his family. His family has a strong basketball heritage, with relatives playing at various professional levels.
