Penn College wrestling wins first-ever team tournament title

Penn College's wrestling team achieved a significant milestone by winning its first team tournament title at the RIT Invite in Rochester, New York. The Wildcats outperformed 13 other teams, accumulating 138.5 points to secure the top spot. Host RIT followed with 129 points, and Williams College, ranked 21st in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Tournament Team poll, finished third with 128.5 points.

Nine of Penn College's wrestlers placed among the top six in their respective weight classes. Notably, Isaac Cory secured second place at 184 pounds despite an injury default in the final match. Travis Green claimed third place at 165 pounds with a record of five wins and one loss.

Other notable performances included Cavin Napoletano and Noah Hunt, both finishing fourth in their weight classes at 157 and 141 pounds respectively. Kaden Ware also took fourth place at 133 pounds. Luke Heimbach placed fourth at 125 pounds, while Liam Goodrich finished fifth at 157 pounds during his season debut.

TJ Martin rounded out the top six finishes for Penn College by securing sixth place at 149 pounds. Additional contributions came from Brett Patton and Cade Schneck, who each posted three wins during the competition.

Travis Green led the team in scoring with a total of 20.5 points, followed closely by Liam Goodrich with 18.5 points. Other key contributors included Isaac Cory and Noah Hunt with 18 points each.

The Wildcats' victory marked a historic achievement for Penn College wrestling as they prepare for their next challenge at the Messiah Chocolate Duals on December 16th.
