Penn College wrestling finishes strong in debut Virginia Duals appearance

Penn College wrestling team secured an 11th place finish in their inaugural appearance at the Virginia Duals, held in Hampton, Virginia. The Wildcats concluded the event with a record of one win and one loss. They were defeated by the Apprentice School with a score of 30-19 but bounced back to triumph over Marymount with a commanding 39-9 victory. This result brings Penn College's season record to six wins and four losses.

Key performances for Penn College included Travis Green's impressive showing at 174 pounds, where he achieved two pins. Kaden Ware (133) and Nicholai Brotzman (285) also enjoyed undefeated outings in their respective weight classes. In the match against the Builders, Ware claimed an 18-5 major decision, Green pinned Ethan Baker in just over a minute, and Brotzman secured a 5-1 victory. Liam Goodrich added points for his team with a second-period pin at 157 pounds.

In their matchup against Marymount Saints, Penn College won eight out of ten bouts. Luke Heimbach initiated the dual with a 10-6 victory at 125 pounds. This was followed by Ware's pin in under two minutes and additional wins including TJ Martin's close-fought success at 149 pounds. Cavin Napoletano contributed another win with his performance at 165 pounds, while Green continued his strong form with another first-period pin at 174 pounds. Gabriel Kennedy-Citeroni and Brotzman closed out the meet with consecutive first-period pins.

Looking ahead, Penn College is set to participate in the Dr. Si Ostrach Duals taking place next Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio at Case Western Reserve University.
