State Representative Jamie Flick from Lycoming and Union counties is setting forth his objectives as he enters his second term. As lawmakers return to Harrisburg for the 2025-26 Legislative Session, Flick emphasizes a focus on addressing the needs of his constituents.

“We’re entering the new year during a time of transition, but I’m focused on meeting the needs of my constituents here in the district, first and foremost,” said Flick.

Flick's agenda includes securing funding for mental health services, fostering manufacturing growth, expanding tourism efforts, and addressing court system corruption. Improving child custody laws and enhancing family welfare are also key components of his plan.

“People want to know that their elected officials are listening to them, taking their concerns seriously and working on solutions,” he stated.

Flick will serve on several committees: House Children and Youth; Human Services; Local Government; Environmental and Natural Resource Protection; and Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development.

A significant aspect of Flick's role involves overseeing opioid settlement funds. He is among 13 officials named to the Pennsylvania Opioid Misuse and Addiction Abatement Trust (POMAAT), managing $1.06 billion from pharmaceutical companies aimed at tackling the opioid crisis.

“These funds must be used to support efforts that tackle the opioid crisis head-on,” Flick said. “This is a deeply personal issue for many people, and we must use this opportunity wisely to help those most impacted.”

Flick supports bipartisan legislation benefitting families. His proposed bill seeks to improve child custody laws by ensuring equal parental access when possible.

“Shared parenting benefits children, and it’s time for the law to better reflect that,” said Flick.

Additional legislative efforts include reintroducing bills to eliminate emissions testing in certain counties, reduce substitute teacher qualifications, strengthen voter ID requirements, reduce state government size, provide tax breaks for veterans and seniors, and institute term limits for Supreme Court justices.

“With a divided Legislature, it’s important to work across party lines to find common ground and bring about meaningful changes for our Commonwealth,” Flick emphasized.

As a co-founder of the Meet Me in the Middle Caucus with other representatives, Flick values open dialogue among lawmakers.

Tourism remains a focal point in Flick's economic strategy. The 83rd District benefits significantly from tourism within Pennsylvania Wilds. Recently secured grant funding aims to boost local tourism projects further.

In January, together with Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23), Flick helped allocate $330,000 towards Lycoming County projects through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.

His commitment extends into human services with initiatives like an annual Human Services Expo held at Pennsylvania College of Technology on April 25th. This event provides resources related to housing, healthcare, elder care, mental health support services amongst others—a testament towards improving access especially vulnerable populations need most urgently addressed according him personally driven experiences shared publicly often enough now impacting policy decisions made today still tomorrow potentially too though hopefully less so then ideally speaking course!
