Gene Yaw begins fifth term representing Pennsylvania's 23rd senatorial district

State Senator Eugene Yaw | Pennsylvania

State Senator Gene Yaw has been sworn into his fifth term, representing the 23rd Senatorial District in Pennsylvania. The district includes Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Tioga, and Union counties. The ceremony took place at the State Capitol.

Yaw expressed gratitude to his constituents: “I want to thank the voters of the 23rd Senatorial District for placing their continued trust in me to be their voice in Harrisburg,” he said. He acknowledged the challenges ahead and committed to addressing them with dedication. “Together, we can continue to make our state a better place to live, work and raise our families.”

Throughout his career, Yaw has held several leadership positions. He is chairman of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and serves as chairman of both the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors and the Center for Rural Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is vice chairman of the Chesapeake Bay Commission and chairs its Pennsylvania delegation.

Yaw's contributions have earned him various accolades such as Rural Health Legislator of the Year and Marcellus Shale Coalition Shale Gas Advocate Award. In 2023, he was named Clean Water Champion by the Choose Clean Water Coalition. His legislative efforts have also been recognized by organizations like the National Federation of Independent Business and Americans for Prosperity – Pennsylvania.

A U.S. Army veteran, Yaw graduated from Montoursville High School before attending Bucknell University. He holds degrees from Lycoming College and American University School of Law in Washington, D.C. Professionally affiliated with multiple legal associations, Yaw works as "Of Counsel" at McCormick Law Firm in Williamsport.

Residing in Loyalsock Township with his wife Ann S. Pepperman, Esquire, Yaw is a father to two children and grandfather to four grandchildren.
