Penn College wrestling ranks third after first day at Ithaca Invitational

Penn College's wrestling team is currently in third place after the first day of the Ithaca Invitational, with a total of 52.0 points. Sixteen Wildcats remain in medal contention, and ten are still competing for gold as they head into the second day on Saturday. The quarterfinal round is set to begin at 9 p.m.

Johnson & Wales, ranked eleventh, leads the competition with 59.0 points, followed by Castleton at 55.0 points. Host team Ithaca holds fourth place with 46.0 points, while Alfred State completes the top five with 45.0 points.

Out of Penn College's 32 entries among a total of 266 wrestlers, 27 have contributed to the team's score. Advancing to the quarterfinals are Luke Heimbach (125 pounds), Kaden Ware, Blake Dergham, Ryan Fitzsimmons (133 pounds), Isaac McGregor (141 pounds), Noah Hunt and TJ Martin (149 pounds), Travis Green (174 pounds), Isaac Cory (184 pounds), and Nick Woodruff (197 pounds).

The consolation bracket features Justin Adams and Giovanni DiBiagio (125 pounds), David M'Balla (141 pounds), Cavin Napoletano (157 pounds), Carter Davis (165 pounds), and Nicholai Brotzman (285 pounds).
