With a young team building for the future, Penn College of Technology's men's soccer coach Tyler Mensch observed improvement in his team's performance over the past season. The team's record stood at 5-10-3 overall and 3-4-1 in the United East Conference (UE), narrowly missing a top-four finish and playoff berth.
Coach Mensch commented on the season's progress, saying, "We have a good nucleus of returners and now we need to get a bit more selective in terms of who we are recruiting. With our defense set for the next two years, we will really be looking to add dynamic attacking players who have a knack for the goal."
Key individual performances included sophomore Dylan Dailey from East Stroudsburg scoring four goals and junior Tad Shellenberger from Port Royal adding three. In goal, sophomore Cole Catherman from Selinsgrove started 11 matches with a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.09, while senior Braeden Eckard from Danville started seven matches with a GAA of 1.89.
The team received postseason honors with Tommy DeGeyter from Long Valley, New Jersey being named to the UE second team and Braeden Eckard earning recognition on the UE All-Sportsmanship Team.
As Coach Mensch looks ahead to his eighth season, he aims to build on this year's foundation by focusing on recruitment strategies that emphasize dynamic offensive capabilities.
