College esports teams face challenging season; iRacing drivers find success

During the 2022-23 esports season, the college's teams in Rocket League, Overwatch 2, Valorant, League of Legends, and CS:GO concluded with a combined record of 14 wins and 23 losses in the fall. In the spring season, their Rocket League Varsity, NACE Overwatch 2, and NACE Valorant teams faced challenges, ending with a collective record of 0-19. Despite these results, there was notable success in iRacing.

"Our iRacing drivers of juniors Austin DeLong, of Pittsburgh, and Michael Sydor, of Reading, had some great performances with consistent top 5 and top 10 finishes in the Collegiate iRacing League," coach Joshua Young stated. He also mentioned that "the good news is that most of our starting rosters will return for our six team sports in the fall."

In terms of individual team performance during the fall season:

- The Rocket League team achieved an overall record of 5-4 and went 1-1 in playoffs.

- The Overwatch 2 team also recorded a similar performance with an overall record of 5-4 and a playoff record of 1-1.

- The Valorant team finished with an overall final record of 3-4 and went 0-1 in playoffs.

- The League of Legends team ended their season with a final record of 1-4.

- The CS:GO team struggled throughout the season with a final record of 0-7.

In the spring esports competitions:

- The NACE Rocket League Varsity team's final record was 0-6.

- The NACE Overwatch 2 team completed their season with a final record of 0-7.

- Similarly, the NACE Valorant team's final standing was at 0-6.
