The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team secured a victory against Dartmouth at The Palestra, winning 88-75. Despite a challenging start, Penn managed to overturn their initial deficit with a strong performance in the second half.
During the early part of the game, Penn missed 11 consecutive shots and had only converted five out of 21 attempts within the first ten minutes. Consequently, they trailed by 13 points at one stage. However, Penn's performance improved significantly as they shot 27-of-49 for the remainder of the game. This comeback enabled them to secure a double-digit win.
This victory marked an improvement in Penn's overall record to 7-16 and enhanced their chances in the Ivy League Tournament by moving to a league play record of 3-7. Meanwhile, Dartmouth dropped to 12-11 overall and 6-4 in Ivy standings.
"Penn's 88-point night was its second-highest output this season," noted Quaker Notemeal. The team also tied their season high with 32 baskets made and set a new mark with 70 attempts.
Sophomore Sam Brown was close to achieving a triple-double with his contribution of "15 points, 10 assists—most by a Penn player this season—and seven rebounds." Junior Ethan Roberts also contributed significantly with "a double-double, matching Brown in the scoring column and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds."
Senior Nick Spinoso equaled his career high with "23 points," shooting efficiently from inside the arc and from the foul line. Additionally, senior George Smith played his milestone "100th game at Penn."
Dartmouth's Ryan Cornish scored 19 points while Brandon Mitchell-Day added another 18. Jackson Munro contributed with twelve points.
Penn will next face Harvard on Saturday night after hosting Cornell earlier that day as part of a doubleheader event featuring both men's and women's teams.
