The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team narrowly lost to Princeton in a tight contest, ending 61-59 on Friday night. The game concluded with Princeton's Jackson Hicke scoring two decisive free throws with just 0.6 seconds remaining.

With the score tied at 59-59, Xaivian Lee of Princeton attempted a drive to the basket but stumbled. He managed to pass the ball to Hicke, who was fouled while shooting. Hicke successfully converted both free throws, leaving Penn without time for a final attempt before the buzzer sounded.

This result brought Penn's record to 6-14 overall and 2-5 in Ivy League play, while Princeton improved their standing to 16-6 overall and 5-2 in league games.

Both teams faced challenges offensively throughout the match. Penn shot 35.6% from the field compared to Princeton's 34.5%. Despite taking more foul shots than Princeton (17 to their 13), Penn only made ten successful attempts compared to Princeton's twelve.

Penn achieved a season-high nine steals and forced thirteen turnovers from Princeton, significantly more than their own six turnovers. This led them to win the points-off-turnovers battle by an impressive margin of 18-5.

Senior Nick Spinoso and sophomore Sam Brown were top scorers for Penn, each contributing twelve points. Brown also excelled with three successful three-pointers out of seven attempts during the game.

Other notable performances included Niklas Polonowski and freshman AJ Levine scoring nine points each for Penn, with Levine adding four rebounds and four steals—the most by any player from Penn this season.

For Princeton, CJ Happy scored thirteen points alongside eight rebounds. Lee and Hicke each contributed eleven points, with Lee nearly achieving a double-double by securing nine rebounds as well.

Injuries affected Penn's lineup as they played without junior Ethan Roberts—leading scorer in Ivy League—and junior Michael Zanoni missed his sixth consecutive game due to injury.

Princeton started strong early in the game with Caden Pierce making an initial three-pointer followed by two more from Happy leading them quickly into a nine-point lead over Penn within just over two minutes after commencement; however despite trailing initially within first half interval scores stood at close range between both teams (31-24).
