The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team faced a setback on Friday night, losing to Brown University 88-79 at The Palestra. Despite leading 72-69 with just over five minutes left in the game, Penn was unable to hold off a late surge by Brown, who scored nine consecutive points and extended their run to 14-2.

This loss ended Penn's two-game winning streak, leaving them with an overall record of 6-12 and a conference record of 2-3. Brown also holds a 2-3 record in Ivy League play and improved to 10-8 overall.

Penn demonstrated strong three-point shooting, making 14 shots from beyond the arc. Junior Ethan Roberts led the Quakers with 29 points, hitting six out of ten three-point attempts. He also contributed five rebounds and tied his season best with three steals. Senior George Smith added a season-high 18 points along with five rebounds.

Brown's Kino Lilly Jr. had an impressive performance, scoring 34 points and making eight out of nine three-pointers. Alexander Lesburt Jr., coming off the bench, added another 19 points for Brown.

In the first half, both teams excelled from long range, each making ten three-pointers. Lilly was particularly effective for Brown in this period while Roberts kept Penn competitive.

Penn will continue its Ivy League schedule against Yale on Saturday night at The Palestra.
