Pennsylvania College of Technology volleyball seniors Hailey DeBrody and Jo Hess have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Division III Women's Volleyball Team. The announcement was made on Tuesday. This marks DeBrody's second selection for volleyball, while it is Hess's first all-district recognition.
To qualify for the 2024 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team, student-athletes must be sophomores or above, maintain a GPA of at least 3.50, and have participated in 90% of their institution's contests or started in 66% during the season.
DeBrody, who is majoring in nursing, played in all 27 matches for the Wildcats this season, starting 26 times. She led her team with 34 total blocks, including a team-high of 13 solo blocks and 21 assists. She also ranked second on her team with 149.5 points and contributed 27 service aces while recording 183 digs and delivering 13 assists. DeBrody concluded her college career tied for second in program history with a total of 78 blocks, fourth in kills (306) and points (427), sixth in aces (65), and eighth in digs (449).
Hess, studying graphic design, made 16 starts over the course of all 27 matches this season. The Jersey Shore native recorded a team-leading total of 210 assists alongside contributing with 11 service aces and six kills for a seasonal total of 17 points. Her performance ranks her seventh all-time with a career total of 211 assists.
The CSC Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Teams honor outstanding student-athletes across the nation for their academic achievements alongside their athletic performances. The program acknowledges honorees from four divisions: NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA. Those selected as Academic All-District are eligible to advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team selections will be announced on January 14.
