Penn College's men's soccer team recently returned from a trip to England and Scotland, which took place from July 28 to August 6. The Wildcats participated in three matches and visited historical sites in both countries.

"This was an amazing experience for current members of our team along with some of their parents, and a few alumni," said Penn College coach Tyler Mensch. "Having the ability to travel to foreign countries that take so much pride in their 'football' (our soccer) can never be matched. We saw the passion and level of commitment the UK players pride themselves on, and that level of play will hopefully benefit us as we get ready for our preseason."

The group included 61 people, comprising current student-athletes, alumni, and family members. Their journey began in Scotland where they toured the Old Course at St. Andrews, attended a Scottish League Cup match between Dundee FC and Inverness Caledonian Thistle, explored Edinburgh's castles, and played against Stirling University.

In England, they visited the Lake District of Windermere, Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium, Warwick and Windsor Castles, Oxford University, and had a Blue Badge Tour of London. They watched Watford face QPR in an opening weekend match of the Championship Division and competed against Govan & Uni of Manchester FC as well as Beaconsfield Town FC.

Penn College is set to begin its preseason on Monday with its season opener scheduled for September 1 at Keystone College.

"This was an amazing experience for current members of our team along with some of their parents, and a few alumni," reiterated Coach Mensch. "Having the ability to travel to foreign countries that take so much pride in their 'football' (our soccer) can never be matched. We saw the passion and level of commitment the UK players pride themselves on, and that level of play will hopefully benefit us as we get ready for our preseason."
