Pennsylvania College of Technology's tennis program is gearing up for the spring season under the guidance of first-year coach David Straub. The Wildcats will host King's College at the Central Pennsylvania Tennis Center in South Williamsport on Saturday.

The women's team concluded their fall season with a 2-1 record, achieving victories over Susquehanna University and Lycoming College. Meanwhile, the men's team ended with a 0-2 record. Coach Straub anticipates that winter training will lead to improvements this spring.

"I expect all our returners to be a bit stronger. I've noticed some of this on the practice courts already," Straub stated. He also expressed optimism about integrating new recruits into both teams, saying, "I expect our seasoned returners paired with the (new) high school recruits will bolster both of our squads."

For the men's singles matches on Saturday, senior Jesse Kight from Williamsport will play at No. 1, followed by sophomore Kyle Shuler at No. 2, freshman Hunter Knosky at No. 3, sophomore Logan Ogden at No. 4, freshman Matt Williams at No. 5, and freshman Will Long at No. 6.

In doubles competition for men, Kight/Shuler will compete at No. 1 doubles, Knosky/Ogden at No. 2 doubles, and Williams/Long at No. 3 doubles.

Coach Straub commented on the women's team: "On the lady's side, we have a pretty strong core of players returning." The women's singles lineup includes sophomore Ellen Buckley at No. 1 and sophomore Lauren Peck at No. 2 among others.

Women's doubles teams feature Buckley/Peck as well as Murray/Macensky and Fox/Miller in other pairings.

"This lineup will be flexible as we have had recent additions," Straub noted while expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

As United East Conference play begins in April for men’s teams consisting of eight competitors over seven matches, postseason bids are set for April 30 leading to semifinals hosted by top seeds with finals taking place May 4th where winners advance further within NCAA Division III tournament contexts.
