Penn College's tennis teams achieved victories against Penn State Berks in United East play on Tuesday. The men's team secured a narrow 5-4 win, while the women's team won decisively with a 9-0 score. This result places the Wildcat men at 1-2 in the conference and 6-4 overall, and the women at 1-2 in the conference and 2-9 overall. The Berks men's team now stands at 0-2 in the conference and 2-5 overall, with their women's team at 1-1 in the conference and 2-6 overall.
The Penn College men's victory was clinched through three singles wins and two doubles matches. Tucker Phillippe-Johansson triumphed at No. 1 singles with scores of 6-1, 6-3; Paul Langbein won at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-3, 6-0; Jesse Kight emerged victorious at No. 3 singles after a challenging match ending with scores of 6-7, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles play, Phillippe-Johansson paired with Langbein to win No. 1 doubles by an impressive margin of 8-2, while Kight teamed up with Tommy Cavanagh to secure No. 2 doubles with an equally strong performance of an 8-3 score.
For the Penn College women, all six singles matches were won alongside three doubles matches for a comprehensive victory over their opponents.
