Penn College's men's lacrosse team secured a victory against Westminster on Wednesday evening with Owen Kupsey scoring the decisive goal just 32 seconds before the end. The Wildcats maintained a 10-9 lead, pushing their season record to 11-4 while Westminster’s fell to 7-7.
Westminster tied the game at 8-8 with just under three minutes left before Gage Mcclune shifted the momentum in favor of the Wildcats scoring at 1:55. However, the Titans responded with a goal at 1:04, leading to a tight finish.
Antonio Santora won a crucial faceoff, allowing the Wildcats to plan their final move during a timeout with 46 seconds remaining. Elliot Dotson assisted Kupsey, who delivered the match-winning shot into the top right corner of the net.
The Wildcats led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter with goals from Dotson, Kupsey, and Tyler Diffenderder. The Titans then took the lead with three consecutive goals in the second, but scores from Kupsey and McFalls gave the Wildcats a 5-4 advantage at halftime.
Kupsey emerged as the top scorer for the Wildcats with four goals, while McFalls recorded two. Dotson and Mcclune split two points each, as did Dotson, who caused four turnovers. Santora managed to win 15 of 18 faceoffs, and Ryan Twist completed 13 saves for his ninth win this season.
The Wildcats will wrap up their regular season away games at Cairn on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
