Penn College men’s tennis triumphs over Lycoming; women fall short

David Straub Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach | Penn College Wildcats

Penn College's men's and women's tennis teams faced Lycoming College in a nonconference matchup on Friday. The men's team emerged victorious with a close 5-4 win, bringing their overall record to 1-1. Meanwhile, the women's team was defeated in their season opener with a score of 9-0.

For the men's team, key singles victories came from Kyle Shuler at No. 2 (6-1, 6-2), Logan Ogden at No. 5 (6-3, 6-2), and Ian Dayhoff at No. 6, who won by forfeit. In doubles play, Paul Langbein and Shuler secured a win at No. 1 (8-3), while Dayhoff and Dylan Ceprish won at No. 3 by forfeit.

On the women's side, Jordan Specht put up the most resistance in her match at No. 5 singles but ultimately lost with scores of 6-7 (3-7 tiebreaker) and 3-6.

Looking ahead, the Penn College women's team is set to travel to Lock Haven University for another nonconference match scheduled for Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
