The University of Pennsylvania cross country teams competed at the Lehigh Invitational on Friday evening, marking their first event of the season. The women's team achieved a perfect score of 15 points, while the men's team secured second place with 37 points.
In the women's race, Maeve Stiles led the Quakers to victory with a time of 20:32.6 in the 6K. The team dominated by taking the top five positions and eight out of the top ten spots overall.
For the men's team, Dylan Throop claimed an individual win with a time of 18 minutes flat on the same course.
Women's scorers included Maeve Stiles (20:32.6), Olivia Morganti (21:19.7), Katie Pou (21:50.2), Kyra Compton (22:01.2), and Fabianna Szorenyi (22:05.1). Additional top finishers were Nora Wollen (22:12.7) and Lara Cota (22:13.3).
Men's scorers featured Dylan Throop (18:00.0), Luke Johnson (18:18.6), Sahil Dodda (18:18.6), Rory Lieberman (18:35.9), and Nicholas Carpenter (18:35.9). Other notable performances came from Dennis Fortuna (18:37.5) and Troy Hill (18:39.7).
The Quakers are set to continue their training for two weeks before participating in their next competition at the Main Line Invitational on September 15 at Haverford College.
