State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative David Rowe have announced the allocation of $80,885 to East Buffalo Township in Union County. The funds are provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.

"Funding for this project will undoubtedly benefit our region and have a positive impact on recreational opportunities," said Yaw. "I am pleased to see this important investment in Union County and I’m grateful to Rep. Rowe for his collaboration."

"This grant is an exciting opportunity to enhance our local parks, making it a better place for families, children, and residents to enjoy. It is a privilege to work with Sen. Yaw in our shared efforts to improve the quality of life for our constituents," added Rowe.

The awarded funds will support the first phase of Turtle Creek Park's development plan in East Buffalo Township. This phase includes recreating and enlarging a dog park, constructing an ADA accessible loop trail, expanding parking facilities, and adding amenities such as a pavilion, picnic tables, and benches. Informational signage will also be installed.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority was established in 2004 as part of Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development to manage economic stimulus programs. In 2012, the Marcellus Legacy Fund directed natural gas drilling revenues towards projects like greenways and recreational trails through the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program.
