Rep. Jamie Flick has announced that fire and emergency medical services organizations in the 83rd District have been awarded over $250,000 through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. This funding aims to support local emergency service providers.

"Ensuring the safety of our communities is a top priority, and the brave men and women who work tirelessly to do so are the backbone of that effort," stated Flick. "This critical funding will help provide the resources and support they need to continue their vital work. I’m grateful to see these providers receive this help. I remain committed to securing additional resources to ensure our first responders have the resources they need to keep us safe."

The grant recipients include several volunteer fire companies and ambulance services, with amounts ranging from approximately $9,564 to $25,524.70 for various projects such as construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, recruitment and retention efforts, public education on fire prevention, and debt reduction.

The funds are sourced from an ongoing grant program established by the Legislature and managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency along with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). The proceeds come from slot machine gaming rather than General Fund tax revenue.

Eligible companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC by May 30 to receive their grants.
