State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative David Rowe have announced that East Buffalo Township in Union County will receive $147,300 from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The funding comes through the Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2) and is intended for ongoing development at Turtle Creek Park.
The grant will support several enhancements at the park, including a pedestrian walkway, pavilion, dog park, fencing, ADA access, and landscaping. "These improvements to Turtle Creek Park will undoubtedly benefit our region and have a positive impact on our recreational opportunities," said Yaw. He expressed satisfaction with the investment in Union County.
Rowe shared his impressions from a recent visit to Turtle Creek Park. "I had the opportunity to visit Turtle Creek Park this summer and I was impressed to see the progress being made on the stream restoration," he stated. He emphasized that the grant would help complete the park project, offering more opportunities for outdoor activities.
The C2P2 receives funding from multiple sources such as the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF), federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT – federal source), Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA), and ATV Restricted Management Account Fund (ATV).
