State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Clint Owlett have announced a $50,000 grant awarded to Wellsboro by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The funding, provided through the Community Conservation Partnership Program, will support the preparation of a tree inventory and maintenance plan while enhancing local tree stewardship.

Senator Yaw commented on the grant's significance: “This funding for Wellsboro Borough will undoubtedly benefit our region and have a positive impact on our environment and recreational opportunities. I am pleased to see this important investment in Tioga County.”

Representative Owlett added his thoughts: “There is so much to love about Wellsboro, from the idyllic downtown to the scenery that surrounds it. This funding will help maintain and build upon just one of the many elements that make Wellsboro a great place to live, operate a business or visit.”

The Community Conservation Partnership Program receives its funding from various state and federal sources. These include the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, Environmental Stewardship Fund, federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, Pennsylvania Trails Fund, Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program, and ATV Restricted Management Account Fund.
