Rep. Jamie Flick and Sen. Gene Yaw have announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has allocated $1,053,100 to two projects in Lycoming County through the Conservation Community Partnership Program (C2P2).
"Funding for these projects will undoubtedly benefit our region and have a positive impact on our environment and recreational opportunities," said Yaw. "I am pleased to see this important investment in Lycoming County."
"This funding will help transform Lycoming County and the City of Williamsport by expanding recreational opportunities and improving public spaces," stated Flick. "From the extension of the Susquehanna River Walk to revitalization of Youngs Woods Park, these projects will create lasting benefits for our communities, enhancing accessibility, recreation and environmental stewardship."
The funding is distributed as follows:
- Lycoming County received $649,900 for its Susquehanna River Walk Extension project. The project includes constructing approximately 1.46 miles of trail, an at-grade railroad crossing, stormwater management measures, ADA access, and landscaping.
- Williamsport City was awarded $403,200 for rehabilitating Youngs Woods Park. This project involves constructing a pavilion, pedestrian walkways, a pickleball court, a parking area; installing play equipment; fencing; lighting; and ensuring ADA access.
The C2P2 is supported by various state and federal sources such as the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF), federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), Pennsylvania Trails fund (PRT – federal source), Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA), and ATV Restricted Management Account Fund (ATV).
