State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Joe Hamm have announced that the Loyalsock Foundation in Sullivan County will receive $250,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The funds are allocated through the Community Conservation Partnership Program.
The money will support ongoing development at The Summit in Laporte Township. Planned improvements include pedestrian walkways, an observation deck, a pedestrian bridge, parking areas, ADA access, and landscaping.
"The project at The Summit will undoubtedly benefit our region and have a positive impact on recreational opportunities," said Senator Yaw. "I am pleased to see this important investment in Sullivan County."
Representative Hamm expressed his support as well: "I congratulate the Loyalsock Foundation for receiving this funding that brings us one step closer to making The Summit: Center for Wellness a reality. I will continue working hard to ensure Sullivan County receives state funding for important projects like this."
The Loyalsock Foundation aims to establish a wellness and cultural community center serving Sullivan County and nearby rural communities. This facility would focus on health, fitness, education, and outdoor recreation needs identified by local residents through public outreach efforts.
The Community Conservation Partnership Program is supported by various state and federal sources including the Keystone Recreation Park and Conservation Fund; Environmental Stewardship Fund; Land and Water Conservation Fund; Pennsylvania Trails Fund; Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program; and ATV Restricted Management Account Fund.
