State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Clint Owlett have announced that Mansfield Borough in Tioga County will receive $500,000 for flood mitigation. The funds come from the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

"It is critical that we take the needed steps to prevent future flood damage and ensure local governments receive vital funding for infrastructure repairs and improvements," stated Yaw. He expressed satisfaction in collaborating with Rep. Owlett and local officials to secure this funding.

The allocated money will cover construction costs related to realigning and installing a new arch pipe culvert. It will also address utility relocations and wetland restoration.

"We’ve all seen firsthand, far too many times, the devastating impact of flooding on our lives and livelihoods here in the Northern Tier," said Owlett. "Whatever we can do to protect against future flooding is a worthwhile investment in our communities."

RACP is managed by the Office of the Budget, focusing on regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. Projects under RACP must demonstrate regional or multi-jurisdictional impact while boosting employment or maintaining current levels of economic activity.
