Penn College's tennis teams had mixed results in their recent United East matches against Penn State Berks. The women's team emerged victorious with an 8-1 win, marking their second consecutive victory. Meanwhile, the men's team narrowly lost 5-4.
The women now hold a 1-2 record in the United East and are 4-6 overall. The men's team is currently at 1-3 in the United East and has an overall record of 1-7. On the other hand, Penn State Berks' men's team stands at 2-2 in the United East and 3-5 overall, while their women's team is yet to secure a win with a 0-4 record in the United East and an overall standing of 0-8.
In the women's competition, Penn College won five out of six singles matches and swept all three doubles matches. For the men, both teams split the singles matches evenly, but Berks managed to clinch two out of three doubles matches.
Individual victories for Penn College's women included Ellen Buckley at No. 1 (7-6, 5-7, 6-4), Lauren Peck at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1), Faith Murray at No. 3 (6-1, 6-1), Georgia Macensky at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0), and Kayla Weinzierl at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0). In doubles play, Buckley-Peck won at No. 1 (8-3), Murray-Macensky secured a win at No. 2 (8-0), and Weinzierl-Mia Clark triumphed at No. 3 (8-1).
For the men's singles matches, Logan Ogden was victorious at No. 4 (6-3, 6-2), Matt Williams won at No. 5 (6-2, 6-0), and Jayden Manbeck succeeded at No. 6 (6-2,7 -5). In doubles play for men, Williams-Will Long claimed victory at No.3 with an intense tiebreaker finish of (8 -8 ,10 -5).
Looking ahead,Penn College will face Penn State Abington in another United East match on Thursday afternoon.
