Penn College's tennis teams achieved victories against Clarks Summit University on Saturday. The men's team secured their first win of the season with an 8-1 score, while the women's team won 9-0.
Following these matches, Penn College's men's team holds a record of 1-2 in the United East and 1-6 overall. The women's team stands at 3-6 overall, as their match was nonconference. Clarks Summit's men's team is now 0-1 in the United East and 0-7 overall, while their women's team is 2-9 overall.
In the men's competition, Penn College claimed victory in five singles and three doubles matches. For the women, they won all six singles and three doubles matches.
The men's singles winners included Kyle Shuler at No. 1, Hunter Knosky at No. 3, Logan Ogden at No. 4, Matt Williams at No. 5, and Jaydon Manbeck at No. 6. Doubles victories were achieved by Shuler-Kight at No. 1, Manbeck-Williams at No. 2, and Ogden-Will Long at No. 3.
For the women’s singles matches, Ellen Buckley won at No. 1, Lauren Peck at No. 2, Faith Murray at No. 3, Georgia Macensky at No. 4, Kayla Weinzierl at No. 5, and Cici Miller at No. 6; Buckley, Murray, and Macensky each won in straight sets of 6-0. In doubles play, Buckley-Peck triumphed at No. 1, Murray-Macensky dominated with an 8-0 win at No. 2, and Weinzierl-Miller succeeded at No. 3.
Penn College will next face Penn State Berks in United East play on Sunday afternoon.
