Penn College's baseball team concluded its Spring Break trip in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with a 4-4 record. The Wildcats began the season with a victory against Hilbert, winning 7-6 after a decisive four-run sixth inning and a passed ball in the 10th inning that secured the win.
In their games against Eastern Nazarene, Dallas Griess contributed significantly with three hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Nate Gustkey and Jaiden Augustine each added two hits. Mason Balfanz started the game and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five batters. Dennis Prestash was credited with the win, and Parker White earned a save as Penn College improved to 3-0 by sweeping Eastern Nazarene on Monday.
The Wildcats faced Penn State DuBois and Westminster next. Against Penn State DuBois, they initially led 4-0 but were eventually overtaken after a grand slam by their opponents in the third inning. Shawn Townsend had three hits in this matchup. Later that day, Penn College lost to Westminster with a score of 12-1.
On Thursday, the Wildcats ended their losing streak with a narrow 10-9 extra-inning win over Penn State Hazelton. Jaiden Augustine was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning to bring in the winning run. Shawn Townsend went 4-for-6 at bat during this game.
Finally, against WPI, Adam Aldenderfer's single gave Penn College an early lead before WPI responded with runs in subsequent innings to secure their own victory.
