Penn College soccer players honored on CSC Academic All-District team

Six student-athletes from the Penn College men's soccer team have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Division III Men's Soccer Team. The announcement was made on Tuesday. Senior goalkeeper Cole Catherman, defender Jack Lenosky, defensive midfielder Matt Neeson, and junior midfielder Mason Kostick received their second all-district selections. Meanwhile, senior defender Logan Confer and sophomore midfielder Logan Pietrzak earned their first selections.

To qualify for the 2024 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, student-athletes must be at least sophomores with a GPA of 3.50 or higher and must have participated in 90% of their institution's contests or started in 66% during the season.

Catherman, who is majoring in Manufacturing Engineering Technology with a 3.94 GPA, finished third in the conference with a goals-against average of 0.950 and a save percentage of 0.800 over 15 appearances and 14 starts. He secured ten victories and three shutouts while making 52 saves.

Confer, Lenosky, Neeson, and Kostick played in all 19 matches this season, contributing to a defense that ranked fourth in the United East Conference with a goals-against average of 1.105. They achieved five shutouts and conceded only 21 goals throughout the season.

Lenosky was also recognized as a UE third-team all-conference selection. He is studying HVAC Engineering Technology with a perfect GPA of 4.00 and scored six points this season through two goals and two assists. Neeson received similar honors while studying Robotics & Automation with a GPA of 3.60; he recorded one assist against Rosemont.

Confer, who maintains a GPA of 3.50 in Business Administration, scored one goal that became the game-winner during an away match at Valley Forge.

Pietrzak is majoring in Building Automation Engineering Technology with a GPA of 4.00; he contributed two goals and two assists to help his team finish third in the conference with a +19 goal differential.

These athletes were key contributors to the Wildcats' successful season record of 11-5-3 and helped secure their first-ever playoff win in the Division III era under coach Mensch.

The CSC Academic All-District® program acknowledges top student-athletes for both athletic performance and academic achievement across four divisions: NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA. Honorees may advance to consideration for CSC Academic All-America®, which will announce its selections on December 10.
