Dylan Throop and Luke Johnson will represent the University of Pennsylvania men's cross country team at the NCAA Cross Country Championship in Madison, Wisconsin, on Saturday. The athletes qualified for the championships after impressive performances at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, where Throop finished third and Johnson sixth. Throop completed the men's 10k with a time of 29:34.6, while Johnson followed closely with a time of 29:41.3.

The pair are the first male representatives from Penn at this championship since 2021. Dave Merrick holds the record for the best finish from Penn, having placed ninth in 1975 with a time of 29:05.2.

Throop recently made history by recording the fastest time in program history during the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championship men's 8k race, earning his second All-Ivy First Team cross country honors with a personal-best time of 22:46.4. Meanwhile, Johnson finished 15th in that event with a time of 23:25.9.

The NCAA Cross Country Championship's men's 10k race is scheduled for Saturday at 11:10 a.m., with live results available and coverage on ESPNU.

Both athletes have been recognized for their achievements earlier this season; Johnson was named Men's Athlete of the Week on September 17, and Throop received similar recognition on October 8.
