Penn College's golf team faced challenging weather conditions at the Penn State Altoona Spring Invitational, held at Sinking Valley Country Club. Despite rain and wind in 40-degree temperatures, the team managed to secure third place out of 17 teams with a score of 303.
Gavin Baer led the Wildcats by shooting a 3-over 75, tying for eighth place. Teammates Peyton Mussina, Will Orwig, and Trevor Keaton each scored 76, placing them tied for 14th. Gunner Redmond finished with an 85, tying for 57th in a field of 90 players. Only the four lowest scores contributed to the team's overall total.
Penn State Altoona A claimed victory with a score of 295, followed by Westminster with 302 and Penn College with their score of 303. Other notable finishes included Pitt-Greensburg at fourth with a score of 311 and Juniata A rounding out the top five at 312.
Peter Nusbaum from Penn State Altoona A and Harrison Levithan from Juniata A led individual performances, both shooting rounds of 72.
Looking ahead, Penn College is set to compete in the Gettysburg Spring Shootout on April 20-21 at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville.
