Penn College emerged victorious over Greensboro with a 13-10 win in a nonconference men's lacrosse game on Wednesday. The Wildcats, now at 2-3, outscored the Pride 7-2 in the second half, leading to Greensboro also standing at 2-3.
The match saw an intense turnaround when Penn College overcame a 10-8 deficit. AJ Dotson scored the equalizer at 10-10 with a man-up opportunity before Devin Page secured the game-winner and completed his second hat-trick of the season. Andrew Tavarez marked his first career goal, and Harrison Schlachta added another insurance goal.
Initially, both teams were tied at 4-4 after the first quarter. Greensboro took a lead with three consecutive goals in the second quarter, but Page halted their run. Aidan McFalls brought Penn College closer by reducing the gap to two points just before halftime.
In a low-scoring third quarter, McFalls and Page each scored to narrow the deficit to one point, setting up for their successful fourth-quarter comeback.
Key players included Schlachta, McFalls, and Will Ehret who each scored twice for Penn College. Michael Stank won 10 out of 16 faceoffs while Alex Hammond made four saves in goal. The Wildcats achieved a perfect record on clears and dominated turnovers against Greensboro.
Will Beyer was notable for Greensboro with five goals and an assist.
Penn College is set to play Shenandoah next at UPMC Field on Saturday at 1 p.m.
