Senate Education Committee reviews three education-related bills

The Senate Education Committee convened on Monday, September 30, 2024, in Room 8E-A of the East Wing to discuss several bills related to public education.

Senate Bill 1176, introduced by Senator Dush, proposes an amendment to the Public School Code of 1949. This bill would require that United States currency be accepted for admission to any school-sponsored activity where a fee is charged. An amendment, A05712, was also considered in conjunction with this bill.

House Bill 1990, presented by Representative Kazeem, aims to amend the same code. This bill mandates seizure recognition and related first aid training for school nurses and professional employees.

Additionally, House Bill 2383, put forth by Representative Solomon, seeks to establish the Older Adult Mentor Volunteer Program. An amendment identified as A05706 was also part of the discussion regarding this bill.
