Nearly $1 million in state funding for traffic safety improvements through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) “Green Light-Go” program has been awarded in Bradford and Union Counties, according to Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23).

“I was pleased to hear that several projects throughout the 23rd District received state funding through the Green Light-Go program,” Yaw said. “I applaud these municipalities for developing successful applications, which will directly improve safety and traffic flow.”

Grants totaling $983,928 were awarded to municipalities in Bradford County and Union County.

Statewide, 73 municipalities received over $30 million to support traffic signal upgrades, increasing safety and mobility across Pennsylvania’s communities through PennDOT’s “Green Light-Go” program.

Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursement to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Funding may be utilized for a range of operational improvements including light-emitting diode (LED) technology installation, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, as well as upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies.
