The Dimmick Memorial Library in Jim Thorpe is set to receive 20 laptops as part of the Digital Connectivity Technology Program (DCTP), according to an announcement by Sen. Dave Argall and Rep. Doyle Heffley. The program, managed by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority, aims to provide devices in areas where affordability limits high-speed internet access.
"High-speed internet is an absolute necessity in today’s world," stated Argall. "I’m grateful that these devices will support the mission of the Dimmick Memorial Library to make knowledge accessible to everyone."
Heffley also expressed his approval: "It’s wonderful to see these laptops being awarded to the historic Dimmick Library. The library staff consistently strives to create innovative and engaging opportunities for our children to learn, and I have no doubt these laptops will be a valuable resource."
The DCTP initiative is funded with $20 million from federal sources and targets community institutions such as libraries, schools, municipalities, workforce training organizations, and other non-profits. Projects under this program focus on enhancing high-speed internet access while promoting digital literacy and skills development.
This recent allocation is part of a wider strategy in Pennsylvania aimed at improving digital connectivity throughout the state.
