HARRISBURG – The July edition of the local TV program hosted by Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) explores the topic of delaying school start times through discussions with Marian Catholic students. Argall, along with Rep. Jamie Barton (R-124), engaged in a question-and-answer session with seniors from Marian Catholic High School who visited Harrisburg for a tour of the State Capitol.

This month’s edition also includes a public hearing by the Senate Education Committee, convened by Argall, to delve into the implications of later school start times. Neurologists and psychologists from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh provided testimony suggesting that pushing back the school day to 8:30 a.m. could improve students' test scores.

Conversely, representatives from the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators, the Pennsylvania School Bus Association, and PIAA voiced their concerns about implementing a statewide mandate for later start times.

This edition of "The Argall Report" will air on local channels and is also available online at https://www.senatorargall.com/argallreport/.
