Clinton County issued the following announcement on July 20.
Angela LaRosa Black will be the speaker for the Relay For Life Survivor event on July 31 at Riverview Park. She will replace Willard Barth, who was previously billed at the speaker, but is unable to attend.
The event starts at 10 a.m. with the Survivor event beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Angela is a 1981 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany (BEN) High School and is married to Alan Black. She has worked for Clinton County for over 24 years. On Halloween Day of 2016, Angela had a test that indicated that she might have cancer. Further testing revealed that it was non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, a type of cancer that causes the production of too many white blood cells called lymphocytes. This affects your immune system and can cause swollen lymph nodes, fever, belly pain, or chest pain. Angela received different types of treatment and is now in remission.
Come and hear the details of her story at Relay For Life of Clinton County.
The Survivor event also features a farm-to-table meal prepared and donated by Wetsu Catering. Local farms have generously donated their produce and meat for the meal. They include Cramer Farms, Shemps Farm, and PoleCat Hollow Farm.
Survivors and Caregivers are still invited to sign up by registering at RelayForLife.org/PAClintonCounty or call 800-227-2345.
There will be lots of other great food at Relay. Food trucks include Tiny's Barbeque, Roger's Lemonade, and Bloom Sum Cafe. The teams will have food for sale as well. From hot sausage sandwiches to pizza, from popcorn and other snacks to donuts and ice cream.
There will be basket raffles and handmade goods to purchase.
