The Borough of Jim Thorpe has been awarded a low-interest loan exceeding $4.2 million from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for replacing old water mains. This financial assistance aims to support the construction of a new 5,800-foot-long water main under Center Avenue, which will replace two existing mains that are over a century old.

Representative Doyle Heffley (R-122) expressed satisfaction with this development, stating, “I’m pleased to see this affordable financing option support essential improvements for residents in the 122nd District. It’s always gratifying to see opportunities that enhance quality of life while easing the financial burden on our community.”

Senator Dave Argall (R-29) also acknowledged the significance of securing these funds: “I’m grateful Jim Thorpe was able to secure this highly competitive funding to ensure their residents have access to clean water.”

PENNVEST is known for funding sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects across Pennsylvania.
