Penn College advances to UE semifinals after defeating Wilson

Penn College's women's soccer team secured a decisive victory over Wilson in the United East quarterfinals, advancing to the semifinals. The match, held at UPMC Field in Williamsport, saw Penn College win 5-1 against the seventh-seeded Wilson team. This result improved Penn College's record to 15-0-4 and concluded Wilson's season with a record of 13-4-2.

The Wildcats will host a semifinal match on November 6 against either St. Mary's or Lancaster Bible, with details yet to be announced.

During the game, Penn College broke through Wilson's defense in the first half with Cassie Johnson scoring from a corner kick by Makayla Bucks in the 33rd minute. Megan Kurian extended their lead early in the second half with her 26th goal of the season, assisted by Olivia Casella.

Wilson responded with a goal in the 70th minute but could not stop Penn College from scoring three more times before the final whistle. Kathryn Dunn scored her third goal of the season in the 75th minute, followed by Brooke Klinger netting one from another Johnson corner in the 79th minute. Johnson completed her performance with a second goal in the 87th minute.

Statistically, Penn College outshot Wilson 16-9 and had a slight edge with seven shots on goal compared to Wilson's six. Both teams had four corners each. Nicole Lichtinger contributed to Penn College’s success by saving five shots and earning her eleventh win this season.
