Penn College falls short against St. Mary’s in United East men’s soccer

Penn College of Technology's men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to St. Mary's in a United East match held at UPMC Field on Saturday. The Wildcats now hold a record of 1-2-1 in the United East and an overall record of 6-5-3. Meanwhile, the Seahawks improved their standing to 1-1-1 in the conference and 6-4-3 overall.

The game saw St. Mary's take an early lead with a penalty kick in the 18th minute. However, Penn College quickly equalized when Jimmy Friedman scored with a header from Brendan Geiger's pass just one minute later. As the first half ended, St. Mary's managed to score another goal, leading 2-1 at halftime.

St. Mary's secured their victory with a final goal that resulted from a deflection off a Penn College defender.

In terms of gameplay statistics, St. Mary's outshot Penn College by 18 to 4 and had more corner kicks, leading by 4 to 2.

Penn College's goalkeeper Cole Catherman made nine saves during the match.

Looking ahead, Penn College is scheduled to play against Gallaudet on Friday at 4 p.m.
