Dustin Bartron Head Archery Coach | Penn College Wildcats
Competing on March 11-12 at the Indoor Nationals held at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, Pennsylvania College of Technology archers achieved notable results. The team concluded the indoor season with two first-place finishes, two second places, and two third places.
Markus Weber from La Plate, Maryland secured victory in the male compound event with a score of 1,160. Chelsea Douglas from East Greenville won the female compound competition scoring 1,101. Following these performances, Weber is ranked eighth nationally while Douglas holds the tenth position.
In second place were Tyler Schoonover from Bradford in male compound with a score of 1,144 and Andrew Rupp from Dayton in male bowhunter scoring 1,158. Nationally, Rupp is fifth and Schoonover is eleventh.
John Kleinfelter from Lebanon placed third with a score of 1,141 and ranks eighth nationally. Erica Gause from Bloomsburg also took third place with a score of 1,109 and ranks seventh nationwide.
Other participants for Penn College included Aaron Cummings from Mountville who finished sixth in male compound with a score of 1,118 (30th nationally), Tim Lamont from Eldred was seventh scoring 1,114 (31st nationally), and Logan Booth from New Kensington was ninth with a score of 1,097 (39th nationally).
In female compound category Sabrina Toplovich from Spring Creek placed ninth scoring 1,009 (30th nationally) and Rylee Butler from Bellefonte came tenth with a score of 997 (31st nationally).
Adam Thomas from Shade Gap finished fourth in male bowhunter category scoring 1,104 (23rd nationally) while Justin Rinehimer from Mountain Top was fifth scoring 1,103 (25th nationally). Sarah Decker from Williamsport placed eighth in female bowhunter category scoring 497 (39th nationally).
In male recurve category Tanner Huff from Altoona was seventh scoring 916 (55th nationally), Josh Maring from Brookville placed tenth with an 881 score (67th nationally), and Nick Daniels from Levittown was fifteenth with a score of 673 (97th nationally).
Coach Chad Karstetter commented on their performance saying: "Now that the indoor season is over we are sitting very good going into our outdoor season." He added that these scores will be crucial for upcoming Eastern Regionals and outdoor nationals as they will determine All-East Regional champions and contribute to All-American status.
Karstetter expressed optimism about their prospects: "We have quite a few archers sitting very good for All-American status." He also hoped for favorable weather conditions to prepare for their first outdoor event at James Madison University scheduled within two weeks.
