The Pennsylvania College of Technology archery team experienced a successful weekend at the Eastern Regional Outdoor Collegiate Championships held on April 22-23. The event, hosted by Penn College, saw the team achieve four first-place finishes, four second places, three third places, and six All-East Team selections.

Coach Chad Karstetter expressed satisfaction with the team's performance during their only home match of the season. "The weekend could not have turned out better for our only home match of the season," he said. Despite some rain and cool temperatures on Saturday, conditions improved on Sunday, providing an ideal setting for both competitors and spectators.

The competition included 111 archers from 17 colleges and universities. Penn College's standout performances included Andrew Rupp in male bowhunter; Markus Weber and Chelsea Douglass in mixed compound; Weber, Tyler Schoonover, and Tim Lamont in male compound team; as well as Rupp, John Kleinfelter, and Adam Thomas in male bowhunter team events.

Second-place finishes were secured by Weber in male compound; Tanner Huff and Kaylee Burk in mixed recurve; Erica Gause, Stephanie Plummer, and Sarah Decker in female bowhunter team; along with Douglass, Sabrina Toplovich, and Rylee Butler in female compound team events.

Third place was achieved by Douglass in female compound; Rupp and Gause in mixed compound; Huff, Nicholas Daniels, and Josh Maring in male recurve team.

All-East honors were awarded to Douglass, Weber, Gause, Rupp, Kleinfelter, and Thomas based on their indoor regional and outdoor qualifying scores. Coach Karstetter noted his satisfaction with the team's overall performance: "Overall I am very pleased with the entire team and it looks like we will do well in California."

Karstetter also highlighted personal bests from Toplovich, Butler, and Huff as evidence of hard work paying off. He credited assistant coach Dustin Bartron for his dedication to working with athletes: "I am very thankful to have him on the staff."

The Wildcats are set to compete next at the season-ending outdoor nationals scheduled for May 19-21 in Chula Vista, California.
