Tom Leeser Head Cross Country Coach | Penn College Wildcats
Penn College senior Rosey Thomas has been awarded the inaugural United East women's cross country Senior Scholar Athlete award. This accolade is presented to student-athletes who fulfill specific criteria, including being a senior or graduate student, having at least two years of competition at their current institution, contributing significantly to their team's success, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and demonstrating leadership and community service involvement.
Thomas, hailing from Port Allegany, Pennsylvania, has been an essential member of the Penn College women's cross country team since her first year. She began her collegiate career by receiving Newcomer Runner of the Year honors and was later named to the First Team All-Conference. Despite facing injuries during her time on the team, she consistently ranked among the top performers for the Wildcats.
Academically, Thomas excelled with a 3.8 GPA while majoring in Nursing and minoring in Psychology. She frequently made the Dean's list and was part of Omega Theta Tau, the Nursing International Honor Society. In December, she graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors.
Beyond academics and athletics, Thomas actively participated in community service. She volunteered at the Lycoming County SPCA, caring for sick animals and preparing them for adoption. Additionally, she contributed her time to organizing and cleaning at the Christ Community Worship Center Food Pantry as they collected donations.
