David Straub Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach | Penn College Wildcats
Penn College's tennis teams faced Juniata College in a nonconference match on Monday, resulting in a split outcome. The men's team was defeated 6-3, while the women's team emerged victorious with a 5-2 win. Currently, the Penn College men hold an overall record of 6-6, and the women stand at 5-10. On the other hand, Juniata's men's team has an 11-4 record, whereas their women's team is at 1-11.
During the matches, the Wildcat men secured victories in two singles and one doubles match. For the women, they won three singles and two doubles matches. Notably, two other women's singles matches were not completed.
For Penn College's men's team, Paul Langbein triumphed at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-3, 6-7 (0-6 tiebreaker), and 10-8. Jesse Kight won at No. 3 singles with scores of 6-3, 4-6, and 10-5. Additionally, the No. 1 doubles pair Tucker Phillippe-Johansson/Paul Langbein achieved an impressive victory with a score of 8-1.
The women's team's winners included Mary Kathryn Hillman at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-1), Sostika Rai at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-0), and Kelly Williams at No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-4). In doubles play, Delaney Bouton/Hillman won at No.1 doubles (8-4) and Georgia Macensky/Alexis Youse secured a win at No.2 doubles (8-4).
Looking ahead, Penn College will return to United East play against Lancaster Bible College this Saturday at noon.
