Penn cross country teams to compete in Battle in Beantown and Paul Short Run

The University of Pennsylvania cross country teams are set to preview the course for the 2023 Ivy Heptagonal Championships at the Battle in Beantown this Friday. The event, hosted by Boston College, will take place at Franklin Park in Boston.

In addition to Friday's race, the Penn women's team will participate in the Brown Race at the Paul Short Run on Saturday at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.

The Battle in Beantown races are scheduled for Friday, September 29. The women's 5K race will start at noon, followed by the men's 8K race at 12:30 p.m. Live results will be available for both events.

For Saturday's Paul Short Run, taking place on September 30 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the women's 6K race is set to begin at 1 p.m., with live results provided.

Competing for Penn at the Battle in Beantown will be a number of athletes. On the women's side, Kyra Compton and Lara Cota lead a team that includes Olivia Morganti and Lily Murphy among others. The men's team features Nick Carpenter and Sahil Dodda, along with Dennis Fortuna and Liam Going.

At the Paul Short Run, Penn's women competitors include Laura Baeyens and Arielle Breuninger alongside Sarah Fischer and Chloe Hassman.

Penn's recent performance was noted during their participation in Haverford College's Main Line Invitational on September 15. The men's team secured a victory with 21 points while Dennis Fortuna finished sixth with a time of 20:02.0. Other top finishers included Nick Carpenter and George Keen. The women's team achieved second place led by Zoe Shetty's fifth-place finish.
