State Representative Joe Hamm has announced the allocation of over $1.2 million in state grant funding for projects in the 84th District. The funds, approved through the Local Share Account – Statewide Grant Program, are managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
The funding is distributed among several key projects:
Franklin Township will receive $65,733 to purchase cordless emergency rescue tools for the Lairdsville Community Volunteer Fire Company. These tools aim to improve access during vehicle rescues and replace outdated equipment.
The Jersey Shore Area Joint Water Authority has been awarded $750,000 for upgrades to the filtration system at Larry’s Creek Water Treatment Facility. The facility, which is 119 years old, requires repairs to continue serving over 7,000 customers in the area.
Picture Rocks Borough will use $210,000 for stream bank repairs along Water Street. The project involves installing mudsills and rock vane deflectors to prevent erosion and includes replanting trees for additional stabilization.
Watson Township is set to receive $186,617 for purchasing a track loader and excavator. This acquisition aims to reduce costs associated with renting equipment needed for routine maintenance work.
“I am incredibly grateful to see this funding return to the 84th District,” stated Hamm. “These four projects all focus on my top priorities as a State Representative: supporting our volunteer first responder services, providing reliable public infrastructure, implementing commonsense stream maintenance policies and projects, and assisting our rural municipalities.”
The grants were sanctioned by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency responsible for overseeing programs that contribute to Pennsylvania's economic growth.
