Penn College faced a defeat against Penn State Abington in the United East Conference baseball series opener, ending with a score of 10-2 on Saturday. The Wildcats' record fell to 12-13 overall and 3-4 in the conference, while Abington improved to 10-16 overall and 7-3 in the conference.

The game saw Abington taking an early lead of 2-0 by the fourth inning. Matt Munoz of Penn College narrowed this lead with an RBI triple that allowed Adam Aldenderfer to score. However, Abington expanded their advantage significantly by scoring five runs in the fifth inning and three more in the seventh, making it a 10-1 game. In the ninth inning, John Croasdale managed to single, bringing Munoz home for Penn College's second run.

In terms of individual performances, Matt Munoz had a strong showing with three hits out of four at-bats, contributing one RBI and scoring once himself. Quinn Hanafin also added two hits for the Wildcats. Jonas McGrath pitched for 4.2 innings and recorded six strikeouts but ended up with the loss.

On Abington's side, Josh McGee delivered an impressive performance going three-for-five at bat with three RBIs and a run scored.

Both teams are set to continue their series with a doubleheader scheduled for Sunday at noon.
