Lancaster Bible edges out Penn College with late rally

Penn College faced a narrow defeat against Lancaster Bible College in a United East baseball game on Friday, with the final score at 11-10. The Wildcats' record fell to 4-6, while the Chargers improved to 7-4.

The game began with Penn College taking an early lead of 4-0 by the top of the third inning. Shawn Townsend and Brandon Shane each contributed runs in the first and second innings, while Adam Aldenderfer and Shane added RBIs in the third. Lancaster Bible responded with two runs in the bottom of the third, narrowing the gap to 4-2. Quinn Hanafin's single in the sixth extended Penn College's lead to 5-2.

Hanafin also matched a fifth-inning run by Lancaster Bible with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. The Chargers managed to tie the game at six after scoring three runs in the seventh inning. In response, Penn College scored four more runs in the eighth inning, regaining a lead of 10-6. Hanafin, Townsend, Matt Munoz, and Aldenderfer were responsible for these runs.

However, Lancaster Bible scored five runs in their half of the eighth inning, including a grand slam that secured their victory.

Dallas Griess was notable for Penn College with four hits during the game, including two triples and a double. Aldenderfer and Shane each had two hits as well. Hanafin ended up with three RBIs.

Penn College is set to play again on Saturday at noon against Lancaster Bible for the concluding games of their three-game series.
